About the TNF
The Translational Neuroscience Facility (TNF) is a new research development in the School of Medical Sciences at the University of New South Wales. The TNF broadly supports neuroscience research and training in the School of Medical Sciences directed towards treatment of neurological disorders.Several collaborating teams are embedded within the facility and their research focus spans from sensory and motor systems to pathophysiology of neurological disorders. Themes include hearing disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions, functional genomics, neural repair (for example stroke and spinal cord injury). The translational platform incorporates gene delivery technology (and gene therapy); cellular and intravital brain imaging; cellular and clinical electrophysiology (including patch-clamp, audiometry, nerve excitability and electromyography/nerve conduction); bionics (e.g. cochlear implants).
Research teams within the TNF are:
TNF Sensori-Motor Group
(PI Housley)
TNF Functional Genomics Group
(PI Klugmann)
TNF Clinical Neurophysiology Group
(PI Krishnan)
TNF Neurosystems Group
(PI Morris)
TNF Memory and Plasticity Group
(PI Power)
