About Us
The School of Medical Sciences is the largest School in the Faculty of Medicine, and one of the largest at UNSW. It is a vibrant school, a place of work for over 200 staff, more than one hundred higher degree students, and many thousands of undergraduate students in over 90 separate courses and five programs. The School is based largely within the Wallace Wurth (Medicine) Building on the Kensington campus, but also includes the Museum of Human Disease in the Samuels Building and the UNSW Lifestyle Clinic in High Street Randwick. The 120 Conjoint staff of the School also contribute significantly to our work, from their bases within all major teaching hospitals and Medical Research Institutes affiliated with UNSW.
Many of the School’s staff are recognized internationally as leaders in their fields. They have strong links with colleagues in Asia, North America and Europe, and regular exchanges occur between the School and these international laboratories. The School also features excellent facilities for research and teaching and is involved in projects ranging from molecular and cell biology to neuroscience.
