OHS database for Faculty of Science
The aim of this database is twofold; one to provide a place for each laboratory\department to keep and easily access their OHS information including risk assessment, safe work procedures and various registers. The second is to provide a forum to share OHS information within the Faculty.
For the database to meet these aims, the users must be consistent when entering the laboratory name and department name into the database. The choice of keywords to search the database in also vital, please choose them thoughtfully. They should include the major pieces equipment used in the procedure and\or processes involved.
When in draft form only the author can see the document, once published all members of the Faculty can view and download the documents. Published documents can only be altered by the author and members of the OHS committee.
Three years after the risk assessments and safe work procedures are published they must be reviewed; the database will inform the author and the relevant committee when this is due. The registers should be updated as needed and reviewed annually, there will be no reminder from the database for these reviews in version one.
