How did you hear about research at Medicine at UNSW?
From friends and colleagues who were research degree candidates or had done coursework Masters degrees at UNSW.

What expectations did you have for your candidature?
I expected to improve my knowledge of the area of pediatric HIV, to carry out worthwhile research that would make a difference in the area, to improve my knowledge in other areas relevant to my research, such as statistics and epidemiology, and to make a contribution to the research community of UNSW and the wider research community through publications and/or presentations.

What opportunities regarding your future have you had during your candidature so far.
I am still in the early stages of my candidature. I am reviewing the literature, my research area and starting to consolidate the details of my research project. I have completed the Statistics for Public Health course which was extremely well taught and useful. I have also been offered the opportunity to attend a conference on pediatric HIV which will be held in Sydney in September. As far as opportunities regarding my future this research degree is providing an excellent grounding for specialization as a doctor in the area of public health.
