Clerkships - Successful Applicants
Each student who is accepted must enrol as a miscellaneous student of the University of New South Wales. No additional fee is charged for enrolment. Once enrolled, students are covered by UNSW for professional indemnity.
Students are responsible for all travel and living costs. No remuneration will be given for their clerkship.
Accommodation
Students must make their own accommodation arrangements and are advised to arrange accommodation prior to arriving in Sydney.
The
UNSW Housing Office may be helpful in finding suitable accommodation.
Visas
Overseas applicants should contact their nearest Australian Diplomatic Mission with respect to visa requirements. The location of your nearest Australian Mission can be found on the
Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.
Applicants whose home institution is
not a UNSW Exchange Partner may be required to obtain an Occupational Training Visa, sub-class 442, from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship. In this case, a specific nomination will have to be completed by the UNSW Faculty of Medicine. Applicants should ascertain their visa requirements from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship in their local area. If the sub-class 442 visa is required, UNSW Faculty of Medicine should be informed as soon as possible so that the nomination process can be started.
Here is a list of UNSW Exchange Partners:

Please note that even though a University may be named, the ‘partner’ agreement may not include medicine. If in doubt, please contact clerkships@med.unsw.edu.au for further information.
Immunisation
Students are advised to be immunised against the following infections: rubella, measles, mumps, hepatitis B (HBV) and tuberculosis (TB). It is also advisable that students are aware of their immune status to chickenpox (varicella).
