| Vascular and cardiovascular diseases are major factors in morbidity and mortality in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown that lifestyle intervention, including diet and exercise, may halt the progression from impaired glucose tolerance to overt type 2 diabetes. The challenge for clinicians is implementation of research results into clinical practice. Developing an exercise prescription -achievable for patients in the 'everyday'- is one such research avenue worthy of pursuit.
