December 10th 2009 - Launch of Professor Ken Hillman's Book Launch: 'Vital Signs - Stories from Intensive Care'
Ken is the Professor of Intensive Care at the UNSW as well as Director of the Simpson Centre for Health Serivces Research which is part of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation.
Through a series of stories, the book explores how many Australians will spend their last few days on life support machines. The stories are moving, sometimes funny and sometimes sad but at all times making us reflect about how modern medicine has highjacked the dying process. The book has recently been released across Australia and has already attracted much media attention.
2005 - Stouteenbeck Award
Awarded for an outstanding protocol of a clinical investigation addressing an issue relevant for clinical practice in intensive care medicine.
Medical Early Response Intervention and Therapy
The award was presented during the opening session of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine Congress held in Amsterdam on the 25th September 2005.
