InfoEd Grants Management System
In 2006 UNSW commenced implementing web-based software from InfoEd International Inc to deliver world-class research infrastructure and best practice administrative support facilities for research. In 2008 it was fully implemented within the Grants Management Office (GMO) and is now acknowledged as assisting in the delivery of substantial improvements in data quality and in service.
However, the full benefits of InfoEd will only be realised when it is made available directly to all researchers and research administrators in the university. Those benefits are the efficiencies arising in research and research administration and include :
- Online access to up-to-date and accurate information about applications and grants (eliminating the need to contact GMO staff to get this information)
- Online access via InfoEd to standard reports from NSS Finance regarding the financial status of a grant, providing assistance in financially managing grants
- The ability for school and faculty research administrators to monitor and improve the overall success rate / quality of research applications, leading to improved funding for the University
- Efficiencies for researchers and research administrators in using online facilities to develop, submit and approve research applications, rather than the delays inherent in paper-based methods
Medicine is the first major faculty being provided with access to the system. Professor Denis Wakefield, Associate Dean (Research), encourages all researchers and research administrators to register for access.
