Outlook Anti-Spam Filter

  1. Click on the Tools menu, then on "Rules Wizard" or "Rules and Alerts".
    If this does not appear click on the double arrow outlined in red in the following picture:


  2. Click "New" or "New Rule".
  3. Click "Start from a blank rule" or "Check messages when they arrive", then click Next.
  4. Tick the box next to "with specific words in the message folder" then click "specific words" in the box at the bottom.


  5. Type four asterisks (****) in the box at the top, click add, then OK.
  6. Click Next, tick "Move to specified folder". Click "Specified" in the bottom box.
  7. Click New, type "Spam" under Name, then click OK, then Yes to any messages.


  8. Click Next twice.
  9. Ensure the window has the same info as the below, then click "Finish", then OK.


This filter will place all messages considered to be spam into a spam folder, accessible from your shortcut bar or by pressing ctrl+y. Occasionally the filter might classify a message as spam incorrectly, so you should occasionally check this folder for legitimate emails.
