Eudora Anti-Spam Filter

Note: This document has been created using Eudora 6.0.3 but also applies to Eudora 5.1 and 7

  1. Click on the Tools menu, then on Filters.
  2. Click on the New button at the bottom of the dialog box.
  3. Tick the box next to "Incoming";
    In the Header field choose "<<Any Header>>";
    Ensure "contains" is the option selected in the next field, then type four asterix **** in the blank field next to contains; and
    Ensure "ignore" is the option selected in the following field.
  4. In the first field under the Action heading, select Transfer To.
  5. Click on the In button that now appears next to Transfer to, then select New....
  6. Type "Spam" in the new mailbox field, then click on the OK button.
  7. Close the Filters box . Then click on Yes to "Save changes to filters".

This filter will place all messages considered to be spam into the Spam mailbox. Occasionally the filter might classify a message as spam incorrectly, so you should occasionally check this mailbox for legitimate emails. You should also delete the contents of this mailbox periodically to avoid exceeding your mail quota.
