About Us

A number of institutions from around the world are involved in the Global Burden of Disease Study. A core team co-ordinates the involvement of approximately 45 scientific expert groups (across five 'clusters' of diseases), with guidance from the external advisory board.

Louisa Degenhardt, formerly at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (now at the Burnet Institute) and Harvey Whiteford of the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research are co-chairing the Mental Disorders and Illicit Drug Use Expert Group, which is overseen by the Cluster C (Injuries and Mental Health) leader, Theo Vos.
