Current research topic: The framework from which the development of an effective and efficient use of trained personnel within an eye care delivery service in relatively resource-poor countries, can be derived.
A training and management system is being created whereby an eye care delivery service is constructed based on targeting competency trained personnel to satisfy defined needs. This new system will be cheaper and more efficient in that eye care will be provided to more people over a larger geographical area without any compromise in outcomes.

Current research topic: Use of peer education for quality use of medicines
The study used Participatory Action Research with community partners to examine the value of peer education for disseminating messages about the safe and wise use of medicines to seniors in the community. Seniors (50+ years) trained as peer educators in the Seniors Quality Use of Medicines Program facilitated educational sessions in a variety of settings around Australia with the goal of empowering seniors to take greater control of their health and medicines. Seven groups of peer educators met together throughout the study period, raising issues of concern and identifying solutions for improving sessions to achieve this goal. Qualitative data are being analysed from an ethnographic perspective and triangulated with quantitative data collected via survey methods.
