The Lifestyle Clinic is staffed by an impressive group of industry-leading practitioners who share the same passionate values and interests in helping people improve their quality of life. Many of our team members are also associate lecturers, drawing on their expertise in clinical practice as well as their continuing involvement in research to train tomorrow’s health professionals. Most importantly - as a unified team of practitioners – we host weekly briefs presenting case studies and research updates as part of our commitment to continuing our professional development, resulting in the best standards of care for our patients.



Chris Tzarimas (Tzar)

Director, Lifestyle Clinic
Associate Lecturer (Conjoint) – Exercise Physiology, UNSW

As the director of the Lifestyle Clinic, Chris Tzar is an accredited exercise physiologist with extensive experience in providing exercise therapy and lifestyle programs for people with conditions including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders and HIV+/AIDS. A leading advocate for physical activity and lifestyle strategies to prevent or manage chronic disease, Chris has been involved in numerous federal and state health initiatives, is a fellow and current director of Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and serves on the Executive Committee of the NSW Cancer Survivors Centre.

Kelly McLeod

Associate Lecturer (Conjoint) - Exercise Physiology, UNSW

Kelly is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and oversees a large portfolio of clients with health and medical issues. She brings a wealth of experience in exercise therapy ranging from post-operative hip and knee replacements, spinal surgery, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, falls prevention, diabetes and cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation programs. Kelly is also the coordinator for the MediKids and Lifestyle Plus programs, and is continually praised by clients for her motivation and enthusiasm to help people improve their quality of life.


Carolina Sandler

Fatigue Clinic Coordinator
Associate Lecturer (Conjoint) - Exercise Physiology, UNSW

Carolina is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who specialises in graded exercise therapy for people with fatigue disorders (post-viral/post-infective fatigue, post-cancer fatigue and fibromyalgia-related fatigue). A valued member of the team with a passionate interest in exercise treatments for fatigue and cancer, Carolina is involved in several current research trials and (not surprisingly!) is our Fatigue Clinic coordinator.



Sally Mildon
MSc (Clinical Ex.Sc.) BSc (Ex.Sc.) MESSA AEP
Strength Clinic Coordinator

As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a Masters degree in Clinical Exercise Science, Sally coordinates our Strength Clinic program. As well as providing exercise therapy services for persons with health and medical issues, Sally has extensive experience in functional conditioning programs for injured workers. She has a strong appreciation for the psychological and social issues that can affect a person’s ability to recover from injury. Sally’s interests in the cultural influences of health and her passion in promoting healthy lifestyle changes led to a posting in the Northern Territory providing health services to indigenous communities.



Dr John Booth

Senior Lecturer, UNSW

John is an accredited Exercise Physiologist and one of Australia’s leading experts in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic pain management. His research is published in numerous journals including The Spine Journal, Orthopaedics Today and The British Journal of Sports Medicine. John is also a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, University of NSW and conducts workshops nationwide updating and training exercise physiologists on the latest evidence-based treatment techniques for back, neck, shoulder and knee injury and pre- and post- operative rehabilitation. His knowledge and expertise gathered from over 20 years of treating patients has gained John immense respect from his professional peers and colleagues.


Dr Fiona Naumann
PhD RCEP MESSA AEP
Accredited Exercise Physiologist
Senior Lecturer, University of NSW

Fiona is an accredited Exercise Physiologist specialising in exercise oncology (exercise therapy for persons with cancer and cancer-related fatigue). She completed her doctorate at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Medicine in a pioneering study investigating exercise techniques to maximise bone mineral density and improve bone health. Fiona developed an interest in exercise and lifestyle therapies for people with cancer during a 12 month term in the United States where she was involved in a Breast Cancer Rehabilitation program. She returned to Australia to continue both her clinical work and research in the field of exercise oncology – namely multi-modal (lifestyle) programs for improving the lifestyle of cancer survivors. Fiona is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, University of NSW, holds a clinical appointment at the Prince of Wales Hospital, and serves on the Scientific Committee for the NSW Cancer Survivors Centre.


Dr Blake Hamilton
DCP/MSc(Syd), BSc(Psych), PG Dip.(C&A Psych)
Clinical Psychologist

Blake is a clinical psychologist and researcher working within the Fatigue Clinic service, and is also a consultant clinical psychologist for the Centre for Corporate Health. In 2005 he was awarded a NSW Institute of Psychiatry research fellowship and in 2008 he completed doctor of clinical psychology and Master of Science degrees at the University of Sydney. He has completed psychiatric research work for health services and universities in Sydney and London and was recently elected president of the University of Sydney Psychology Alumni Association, and is a member of the Australian Association of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapists (AACBT). Blake’s main research agenda is to evaluate the Fatigue Clinic program and develop a treatment to assist patients with fatigue disorders to improve attention, concentration and memory. He is continually praised by his patients for his compassion and drive to help people manage their situation.


Sarah Horsfield
B.Sc (Psych), PGDip(Psych), MPsych(Clin)
Clinical Psychologist Registrar

Sarah is a part-time Clinical Psychologist at the Fatigue Clinic. She has completed a Master of Clinical Psychology (with Distinction) at the University of Wollongong and has also completed studies at Macquarie University and the University of Sydney. Sarah has experience treating children, adolescence and adults in both individual and group settings. She has special interest in assessing and providing treatment for eating disorders, depression and related mood disorders, anxiety disorders, sleep and coping difficulties. Sarah also conducts research and clinical work assessing the benefits of group-based psychological interventions for persons with obesity and eating disorders. She is currently involved in research at the Fatigue Clinic investigating the relationship between motivation and treatment amongst patients with post-cancer fatigue and post-viral fatigue. Sarah has a warm and empathetic approach and values the importance of applying evidence-based principles to her clinical work.


Mala Kapahi
Master of Arts (English), Grad. Dip. Education
Administrative Assistant

An invaluable member of our team, Mala has extensive experience in health and medical administration from her previous role with the Department of Defence, as well as a background in teaching. With a quiet and pleasant approach, Mala efficiently runs our administration unit and helps maintain the calm and friendly atmosphere in the clinic.
