Information for New Staff

For All Staff

Starting Essentials:

The following links and forms needs to be completed and returned to the relevant facilities as part of your starting essentials. A paper copy of the induction pack for new staff is also available from the executive officer at room MG14, Wallace Wurth Building.

Induction Packs

Induction packs for new staff can be collected from the executive officer of the school in Room MG14 on the Ground Floor of Wallace Wurth. Our induction pack includes:
  • Staff details and OHS Training forms - please complete and return these to Soo Han Chup
  • Forms you will need for obtaining a UNSW email account and ID card
  • General information about the School and its policies and procedures

Staff ID Cards

Staff are supplied with an application form for their ID card in their induction pack. The form will need to be authorised by (ext 53799) before being taken to the FM Assist to be processed.

Keys

Anyone requiring a key should contact Soo Han Chup (ext 52528) who will do a budget check and place a Works & Services order.

Parking

Staff may apply for a parking permit or use the metered parking around campus (at the listed cost). Any staff member parking on campus must do so in a recognised parking space. Parking in a non-parking area or remaining in a metered parking space after the meter has expired, will incur a NSW Government parking infringement notice. The Faculty will not support payment of any parking infringements from University funds under any circumstances. This applies to infringements that may be incurred by staff, students and any visitors to the campus.

Leave Applications

The following procedure must be used by staff wishing to apply for leave (sick leave, recreational leave, long service etc.) using the electronic leave system:
  • Check with your immediate supervisor that it is convenient for you to take the leave
  • Go to myUNSW and log in. On the left under "self service" go to leave and complete the leave application, selecting Julie Hatzi as supervisor
This will allow the school to keep necessary HR records for auditing purposes. Julie will check with your supervisor that this leave period is approved by them.

Travel

Any member of academic or general staff going interstate or overseas on university business should complete a travel form. The completed form should be passed to the Head of School for approval. This form will be retained to act as an insurance safeguard in the event of a problem.
