Evacuation Map
SoMS Evacuation Protocol
In case of an emergency evacuation, follow the procedures as posted on each floor of the Wallace Wurth Building and any instructions provided by the Wallace Wurth Building Emergency Personnel.
During the redevelopment of the Wallace Wurth Building, evacuation routes are as shown in the image below. The main assembly area is the lawn in front of the Chancellery Building. If exiting via the Biomedical Theatres, the assembly area is the Botany Street parking station.
Emergency exits from the lower ground floor of Wallace Wurth are as follows:
- Northern end: Proceed through LG03 Medical Science Lecture Theatre and take the emergency exit to High Street.
- Central: Up central stairway to ground floor, then out main entrance.
- Southern end: Proceed through to Biological Sciences Building, take stairs up to ground floor, and follow evacuation routes marked on map below. Note: This route cannot be used if there is an alarm in the Biological Sciences Building. A warning sign – "ALARM IN BIO SC - DO NOT ENTER" – will advise if this is the case.
The
Kensington Campus evacuation assembly area map (PDF) provides an overview of evacuation routes and assembly areas for all buildings on campus. If you are teaching in another building, you need to know where the evacuation assembly point is for that building.

* Notes on emergency evacuation map:
- The central stairwell in Wallace Wurth cannot be used if there is an alarm in the foyer. A warning sign - "ALARM IN FOYER - DO NOT ENTER" - will advise if this is the case.
- The evacuation route via the Biological Sciences Building or the Biomedical Theatres cannot be used if there is an alarm in the Biological Sciences Building. A warning sign – "ALARM IN BIO SC - DO NOT ENTER" – will advise if this is the case.
