Transplant of Skin-based Neural Stem Cells for Reversal of Cognitive Impairment
Project Outlines and Aims
The preceding projects will come together in two preclinical trials. The first, to commence in early 2008, will test the efficacy and in vivo characteristics of skin-derived NSCs for the reversal of age-related cognitive impairment in older rats. The second phase will test autologous engraftment of these cells in older dogs with diagnosed CCD. These studies will provide vital information for similar potential future clinical trials in older individuals with dementia.
