Lotus Notes Anti-Spam Agent
The MCSU has created an agent to assist in the management of Spam in the Lotus Notes client. To have the agent added to your mail database, please log a call with the IT Service Desk on 9385-1333.
Once the agent has been added to your mail database, the following folders will be automatically created in your mail database:

The agent can be fine-tuned by clicking on Actions, then Edit UNSW Anti Spam Configuration.
How does it work?
This Filter Agent uses the Anti-Spam rating to move the message from your inbox to a particular folder if the anti-spam rating is above a preset limit.
You can choose the folder where the likely spam message will be moved into and at what preset rating limit. There are two limits that can be set, a low limit and a high limit.
The reason for having two separate limits is to make it easier to find messages that have been incorrectly marked as Spam. If a message has a high rating, say over 10, then it is very likely that it is Spam. If however the rating is closer to 3 or 4 there is still a good chance that the message is Spam, but not always.
Using two separate folders, each with different limits, you can set one "Spam-Possible" folder with a low rating (eg: 3) and one "Spam-Likely" with a higher rating (eg: 10). You can then regularly check the "Spam-Possible" folder for any mail that isn't Spam. The "Spam-Likely" folder needs only be check occasionally if at all.
If you find that you are routinely having valid messages incorrectly marked as Spam then you can increase your rating limits until you are happy with the type of messages that are being moved out of your inbox. Alternatively, if you are still receiving Spam in you Inbox you may choose to reduce the Spam-Possible rating.
The UNSW Anti-Spam system also checks to see if the sender's email address or server's name in on a blacklist of senders to be rejected. If this occurs then all messages from this sender or server are marked as "Blacklisted" and they will be moved to the "Top level folder" folder.
