This profile series reviews and analyses the health management and leadership capacity issues that affect the performance of district health managers in six AusAID priority countries – Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste. The first six chapters of each report provide descriptions of the health system of the country and the final four chapters attempt to assess the management and leadership capacity. This profile series presents information on the types of community-level health workers in the maternal, neonatal and reproductive health sector in ten different countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The profiles provide baseline information that can inform policy and program planning by donors, multilateral agencies, NGOs and international health practitioners.
