            COUNTRY PROFILE SERIES: A REVIEW OF THE HEALTH LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT CAPACITY
            This profile series reviews and analyses the health management and leadership capacity issues that affect the performance of district health managers in six AusAID priority countries – Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste. The first six chapters of each report provide descriptions of the health system of the country and the final four chapters attempt to assess the management and leadership capacity. This series will culminate in an analysis and discussion paper which brings together all the issues identified in the six separate reports.

            This profile series presents information on the types of community-level health workers in the maternal, neonatal and reproductive health sector in ten different countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The profiles provide baseline information that can inform policy and program planning by donors, multilateral agencies, NGOs and international health practitioners. Ministry of health staff may also find the information from other countries useful in planning their own human resource initiatives.       Migration of health workers in the Asia-Pacific region

      This report examines the growing phenomenon of the international migration of skilled health workers (nurses, doctors and more specialised workers, such as pharmacists, radiologists and lab technicians) in the Asia-Pacific region. It concludes that there needs to be an integrated approach to the integration and implementation of policy, especially in some of the least developed countries where there in an underproduction of skilled health workers and increased migration.
